Plasma Soft Surgery / Blepharoplasty is a non-surgical solution - termed 'soft surgery' - that achieves surgical expectations, without the downtime and risk.
Originally developed for eyelid and eye bag correction, a multitude of cosmetic concerns can now be effectively treated:
The Plasma energy method involves ionising the gas particles in the air, between the needle tip and skin.
Ionisation forms plasma, which creates sublimation the turning of a solid into gas.
This results in the tightening and contraction of the skin, deeming a comparable alternative to surgery without the trauma or downtime and in addition can create a long term response.
The treatment area is topically numbed with anaesthetic for approx 30 minutes.
A small needle tip is placed closely to the skin surface without actually touching, creating a sight feeling of warmth. Treatments are usually recommended 6 weeks apart.
Patients may experience some swelling and soreness in the treated area following the treatment. Any residual crusting usually disappears within approx 7 days, but can be covered with a mineral foundation.
Plasma energy has quickly become an advanced medical alternative to traditional Blepharoplasty, with:

Plasma-Plex can be used to remove skin lesions, excess skin and for the reduction of lines and wrinkles by tissue sublimation without cutting. It can be used for the following:
Plasma-Plex causes sublimation which is the process of turning a solid straight into a gas so results are instant and there is no heat transferred to surrounding tissues to cause damage to normal skin. Plasma-Plex uses plasma so there is no electric current which can cause problems for some patients and the treatments result in tissue retraction and tightening which gives even better results.
Local anaesthetic cream is applied for 30 minutes prior to non-surgical blepharoplasty to minimise any discomfort and the procedure is then virtually painless. For other areas, local anaesthetic cream or injections may be used to provide numbness.
The treatment may feel hot in places and there may be a tingling or burning sensation afterwards.
Plasma-Plex plasma technology has been used worldwide for several years with no significant adverse events.
Following Plasma-Plex treatment, tiny dark brown/black spots may appear or there may be an appearance more typical of a burn. Swelling is common and often lasts several days and can be quite significant around the eyes. The area will often be red and warm immediately after the procedure and can be quite tender for a few days. Patients may experience a tingling or burning sensation.
Crusting or a scab can develop and it is important to keep this clean, dry and protected. Sometimes the area can be sloughy. If the area becomes red, hot and tender or if there is pus present, it is important to contact the clinic as this may suggest an infection. Scarring may occur following treatment.
Final results depend on severity of skin laxity or size of lesion, the desired result, the general condition of the skin and any pre-existing skin or medical problems. Reduction in skin folds and creases appear immediately. Tiny dark brown spots appear where individual shots have been fired or a larger burn-like appearance may be seen where an area has been âsprayedâ with plasma. The tiny dark brown spots flake off over the following days (up to 2 weeks) and burns will heal within a similar period.
Swelling is common and can be quite pronounced around the eyes, often worse the following morning and lasting for several days. The area may be tender as it is healing and may scab over or become a little sloughy. It is important to allow any spots or scabs to fall off naturally otherwise scarring or infection may occur. As the treated skin is sublimated, the results often last years or permanently.
After treatment we advise keeping the treated area clean, dry and protected using a broad spectrum sunscreen. Mineral make-up may be applied. Avoid exposing the area to extremes of heat or cold until it has healed. If any doubt, contact the clinic for further advice.
Immediately after treatment, there may be a burning sensation. This will usually resolve during the remainder of the day although if it is particularly uncomfortable or persists for a longer period, then an anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen can be taken.
Following treatment, it is normal to have some swelling. This can be significant around the eyes and can last for several days and may lead to interference with vision in the initial period.
Cold compresses may be applied to reduce the swelling.
If the swelling is more severe, an anti-inflammatory medication and/or anti-histamine may help alleviate the swelling.â
Crusting will usually develop over the treated area, this will often initially be brown or black on the surface of the skin and flake off over the following days. It may take over 2 weeks to completely disappear. It is essential to not pick at this crusting as this may lead to infection or scarring.â
Occasionally the treated area may become a little weepy, this is part of the normal healing process and will improve with time. However, if it starts to become hot or red or if there is any pus present, then please contact the clinic for advice as this may suggest an infection has developed.â
It is essential to keep the treatment area clean, dry and protected with a broad spectrum sunscreen. Do not use alcohol based cleansers.
Do not apply a plaster or an occlusive dressing over the area.
Often more than one treatment is needed for optimum results. There should be at least six weeks before any further Plexr in the same area.
Its important to understand that both a treatment and product combination are required to achieve expected results.
